SAILING CONDITIONS

"About the weather" ... is a common conversational topic, usually when real conversation comes to an end.  At Monterey Sailing we say "Land or ocean weather?"

Monterey Buoy Station 46042 - 27 Nautical Miles west of Monterey Bay

Although Monterey Bay enjoys good to excellent sailing and diving conditions for approximately 350 days per year, conditions vary by season.  Land weather is also different from sea weather.  This is why we have links to the National Weather Service current land-based weather information as well as sea-based buoy weather information.

So even though it may be sunny and warm in Monterey, conditions will be cooler when you sail the bay.  Bring something warm.

A sweater with a nylon windbreaker is perfect sailing attire for most weather conditions.

Although it is important to consider what the weather experts predict, nothing quite satisfies some of us more than a look outside.  The following links are to live web camera views offered by some of Monterey's finest marine institutes.
